Therapy for Men Who Feel Stuck, Burned Out, or Disconnected

Helping you reconnect with yourself, your partner, and your family.

Meet Tim Young, MA, LPC

I’m not a detached expert who sits back and tells you what to do. I see my role as walking alongside you, doing the work with you, not above you. I’m also a professional man with a family, so I understand the real demands you’re under and how hard it can be to hold everything together while trying to show up well at home.

I work with men who are successful on the outside but feel stuck, disconnected, or overwhelmed in their personal lives. Many of the men I see struggle with relationships, especially with their wives or partners, or face challenges related to addiction and recovery. Life pressures, old patterns, and emotional disconnection can make it hard to communicate, feel present, or rebuild trust and intimacy.

My work focuses on helping you navigate these challenges, improve your closest relationships, and address unhealthy patterns related to substance use or other compulsive behaviors. Using psychodynamic, experiential, and somatic approaches, I help you explore the thoughts, feelings, and behaviors that shape your life and your relationships. Therapy with me is about creating a space where you can be seen, understood, and fully yourself, without judgment or performance.

Together, we’ll work on repairing connection, building trust, strengthening emotional presence, and supporting long-term recovery. My goal is to help you feel more grounded, confident, and connected to yourself, your partner, and your life.

If you’re ready to face the struggles holding you back, improve your relationships, and take steps toward recovery and lasting change, I’d be honored to walk alongside you.

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with over 16 years of experience. I live in Round Rock, Texas, and provide therapy for men in Round Rock, Austin, Cedar Park, Pflugerville, Georgetown, and online across the state. Although I am based in the Austin area, I often work with men in Dallas, Houston, or other areas in Texas.

Specialties

I specialize in working with professional men in Round Rock, Austin, Cedar Park, Pflugerville, Georgetown, and across Texas, who feel stuck, overwhelmed, or disconnected from themselves or the people they care about. Many men come in carrying stress, frustration, relationship strain, or a sense that something just isn’t working anymore even if they can’t quite name it.

Therapy is a place to slow things down, get clear on what’s driving the struggle, and make steady, meaningful changes that last. Explore my areas of focus below.

Communication and Emotional Shutdown

Many men come to therapy because conversations with their wives go nowhere, or blow up. You may shut down, get defensive, or feel like nothing you say is ever “right.” Over time, this creates distance, resentment, and loneliness on both sides.

Stress, Pressure, and Coping Through Escape

Many men cope with pressure by pushing through, staying busy, or numbing out, sometimes through substances, screens, work, or other habits that offer short-term relief but create long-term problems. What starts as a way to manage stress can slowly pull you away from your partner, your values, and yourself.

Addiction & Recovery Support

If you’re ready to make a change with alcohol, drugs, or other addictive behaviors, therapy offers a path toward recovery and self-understanding. Drawing on more than a decade in addiction treatment, I help clients heal the underlying emotions and patterns that drive substance use.

Identity, Purpose, and Life Transitions

Many men reach a point where the old ways of defining success no longer work. Career shifts, becoming a husband or father, recovery, or midlife transitions can bring up questions about identity, purpose, and direction, often without a clear place to talk about them.

Strengthening Your Relationship

Even successful men can feel disconnected from their partners, struggling to communicate, manage conflict, or feel emotionally close. Therapy provides a safe space to understand what’s getting in the way, improve connection, and build a stronger, more fulfilling relationship with the person who matters most.

Resentment, Anger, and Emotional Reactivity

Many men don’t feel “angry” so much as tense, irritated, or easily set off, especially at home. Resentment can build quietly over time, showing up as sarcasm, withdrawal, or sudden blow-ups that strain your relationship.
