Therapy for Men Dealing with Anxiety, Anger, and Relationship Stress
If anxiety is running in the background of your life — and it’s showing up as tension, irritability, or withdrawal — we can work through what’s driving it.
“We don’t heal by bypassing our pain. We heal by meeting it.”
You shut down or go quiet
Not because you don’t care — you just don’t know what to say without making it worse.
Arguments escalate fast
Small issues turn into blowups or long silences.
Work stress follows you home
You’re productive all day, but depleted at night.
You feel distant from your partner
You’re there physically, but not really present.
Your mind doesn’t really turn off
Overthinking conversations. Replaying what you said. Anticipating what might go wrong.
If this sounds familiar, you’re not alone:
“We make the path by walking.”
Calmer reactions
You don’t feel hijacked in conflict. You can slow things down.
Clearer communication
You say what you mean without shutting down or exploding.
More connection at home
You feel more present, engaged, and understood.
Less anxiety, more steadiness
Your mind isn’t constantly racing. You feel calmer and more in control under stress.
Fewer spirals of overthinking
You’re not replaying conversations or anticipating worst-case scenarios all night.
What therapy can actually change:
“When we are no longer able to change a situation, we are challenged to change ourselves.”
How I work with men:
Practical tools you can use immediately
Strategies to manage anxiety, slow down reactive moments, and feel more steady under stress.
Understanding what’s beneath shutdown, anger, or overthinking
We look at the patterns driving anxiety, withdrawal, and conflict — not just the surface behavior.
Respect for who you are
No shaming. No over-pathologizing. Just direct, honest work.
Focused on real-life relationships
This isn’t endless talking. It’s about changing how you show up at home and in daily life.
Meet Tim Young, MA, LPC
I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor based in the Austin, Texas area. I work with professional men in Austin and throughout Texas who appear successful on the outside but feel stuck, anxious, or disconnected in their personal lives. Many are struggling in their relationships, shutting down emotionally, or relying on distraction or numbing to cope with stress.
I also help men reduce anxiety and address unhealthy patterns around substances or compulsive behaviors.
Therapy is a space to understand what’s driving these patterns, communicate more clearly, and rebuild connection with the people who matter most. Over time, clients often feel calmer, more present, and more confident in how they show up at work and at home.
If this resonates, the next step is simply starting a conversation.
